Blues, Psychedelic Blues, Latino-Rock Javier Vargas was born in Madrid and initially grew up in Argentina. He later studied music in the USA.
He lived in Nashville/Tennessee and in Los Angeles and played in clubs and in many sessions with well-known musicians like Alvin Lee or Roy Buchanan, who influenced his style.
Throughout his career he has played with the likes of Carlos Santana, Lenny Kravitz, Prince, Canned Heat, Chris Rea, Larry Graham and many others.
Meanwhile, J. Vargas is one of the most successful European blues musicians and probably the most successful and most diverse guitarist and songwriter in the Spanish and Latin American music world. His released albums have sold more than 750,000 copies to date!
The Vargas Blues Band was formed in 1990. The first albums were made in collaboration with Stevie Ray Vaughan's former band,as well as Larry T. Thurston (Blues Brothers) and Preston Shannon.
After a performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Vargas was invited by Carlos Santana to a joint concert in Paris. The interaction was so terrific that Carlos Santana took him on stage for further concerts during the Supernatural Tour in 1998. Also in 1998, Prince invited them to a joint jam session at a concert in Spain. In 2012, Lenny Kravitz took him on his full tour of Spain as a guest musician.
